Does anyone know about how CD players work or of a good site where I might find some information about how I might tinker with my CD player?
We have a small Sony shelf system in our bedroom - single box containing dual tape, tuner, 3 disc cd player, and 2 speakers. Wasn't terribly expensive, around $200 a couple of years ago, so I don't want to send it to a repair shop and spend a fortune. Since we have CD players on our computers I thought I would give this a stab here.
Put in some CDs this weekend and they won't play. Machine won't even recognized them, giving the NO DISC message. Checked the owner's manual and Sony support site. All I can find is the disc is inserted wrong or dirty. Well I KNOW some half dozen CDs can't all be dirty and they ARE inserted correctly. Am thinking will buy a can of air and blow around any dust inside but I don't really hold out hope in that.
The table spins and you can here a soft clicking sound when it should be finding and reading the CD but it still says no disc. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Heck if it is already broken, how much worse can I make it http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
