I recently upgraded my older 166 mhz pentium 1 computer from Win 3.1 to Windows 98. My 3.5"-A Drive works for a while but then stopped working properly. Windows 98 reads my "A" Drive now as if it is 5.25" Drive with 360 KB capacity. The "device not ready" message shows up when you try to double click it. The sytem device manager has my "A" drive running under DOS compatibility mode. I tried using another 3.5" floppy drive it its place but this one also did'nt work. Windows 98 also still thinks the other 3.5"-A Drive I installed is a 5.25" Drive. What do you think is the problem?
First thing I would check is the settings of the floppy disks in the system BIOS. Windows should detect whatever hardware the BIOS thinks is there for the floppies...
