If it is an "OLD" motherboard......ie 486 or older.....there isn't a whole lot you can do to speed it up or "enhance" it ANYway! But you can probably get the FCC # off the motherboard somewhere and at least find out who the mfg. is. Here is the FCC site http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/ if you find the # (usually in one corner of the board). By the way, the ability to "Flash" the bios of a motherboard has only been around for about 4 years or so......the chances of your being able to do that are remote, at best.

You can download a zipped manual from this MSI link (http://download.msi.com.tw/manual/oldmanual.htm). The page says manuals are in a PDF, but the MS-5117 is scanned pages of the manual saved as JPG images. A BIOS (http://www.msi.com.tw/support/bios/mainboard/5xxx/5117/5117.htm) update is also available.
I use Google (http://www.google.com) for searches like this. I had to change the part number to MS-5117 to get some hits.
The info in the scanned manual is limited, but it does show that it takes a P54C class processor. Here is a FAQ (http://www.kingli.com/FAQ-Computer-Upgrade_1Page3.html) that describes some upgrade factors for this CPU class.
