Hello all:

I have recently built a system. When I try to boot up, the power stays on for about 3 seconds, then cuts out. The fan on the power supply and the light on the keyboard both come on, but there is never any motherboard activity and the monitor never gets a signal.

I have swapped working components from another system, including the power supply and the memory.

The motherboard (new) is a PCChips M726MRT with a P2 400Mhz processor.

Have any of you seen or heard of such a problem before? Any help is much appreciated.

Sincerely,
TechNewby

TechNewby,
Make sure the jumpers are set correctly on your Mobo (if there is any).
Also trail by elimnation, Disconnect all cards including the CD-Rom. If at all possible check the processor in another comp.
Hope this helps,

After checking all the jumpers on the M/B
Strip the system down to nothing but a hard drive (Your c:\ Master)
and a video card.
Try to boot from there.

Also check your doc's for the Clear Cmos jumper.
If you clear the cmos and bootup It should default to setup defaults
for a PnP mother board. ( if it is PnP that is)

This should allow you to get a vidio signal and get into the cmos
to set the drive up.

Try turning the power switch connection around on the mobo.
