Formatting troubles..=(

I have been having trounbles getting my comp to format my c drive..i get error reading drive this is just to format the drive i can't get the computer to bot up or anything was wondering if the hard drive is definitly bad or what..what can i do to see if it's just some other problem wise..thanks for all your help

Are you able to get the A:\> prompt with a bootable floppy disk in the drive at start-up? If so, we can say that the computer has booted into DOS, and start troubleshooting from there.

Hi,

I assume that you can boot to a floppy by your discription. First thing to do is check your bios settings that your hard drive is set to auto or the correct setting are set manually. Secondly you might want to check your cable that it is seated properly at both ends (they can come loose over time). Also listen for any noises when you start your comp ie. no nioses, grinding noise, or normal hard drive noise.
