Dear friends,

I have a Tiny PC. It's basically a Pentium III 600 with 128 Megs of RAM and a 20 Gig Hard Drive. It also has a TV Tuner, a Network Card, an Internal Modem, and a TNT2 Graphics Card. The problem is that my PC was absolutely fine earlier this morning and when I shut it down to replace my network card and then turned it on again, it wasn't turning on. I mean the power LED indicates that the power is on, but the power supply is not working. I have checked all the cables and the cards inside the system and they are properly hooked up in place. The Power Connector which goes from the Power On button to the motherboard is also properly connected. I have tried taking out the power and then turning it on after some time, but no success. Do you think the power supply has gone kaput? I believe it is a small intermediary problem but guys I have almost tried everything and was wondering if you could give me some advise on what next to try. (Besides taking it over to a Repair Technician) :-)

Thanks and Regards,

Amir

If you are getting the power LED light on I would guess that the problem is not the power supply. Maybe you have a video problem. Can you hear the hard drive or the floppy start up?

Is the fan on the power supply working?

Thanks for your reply. The power supply is not working and the fan is dead.I believe the reason the Power LED is green is because since it is an ATX casing and the power on button on the casing is directly connected to the motherboard which in turn through some software control the ATX power supply. Nothing is working I mean the hard disk, the DVD etc. they do not have power. The system obviously is not getting the power from the source. I believe it to be an interminent problem as the system has been working fine and when I shut it down for a while and turned it back on again, it just wouldn't boot.

1. Have you tried pulling the new card to see if it works without it?

2. When you changed the card did you fully power down the system, by either unplugging it or by turning off the main power switch on back, if there is one?

3. Did you make sure to ground yourself before touching any internal components, to avoid ESD (Static electricity)?

4. Have you tried moving the card to another slot?

Sorry to have more questions than answers, but the questions may hold the answers...
