New computer. Has 8.4 gig seagate IDE drive. After I boot to win98se, shows me to have a C&D drive both totalling 2 gig, not 8.
Booted to startup disk and ran fdisk, but said no fixed disk present.
Why doesn't fdisk find a fixed disk? Why does windows only shows 2 gig drive, bios shows proper 8.4 gig drive?
What else can I do?
Thanks

Two thoughts. First, how "new" is this computer. Be sure that the BIOS supports drives larger than 2GB. Second, was large disk support enabled when the disk was first partitioned?

You may want to try a partitioning program like "partition magic" and see if it will allow you to correct the problem. Unlike FDISK, 3rd party programs like the above will allow you to partition on the fly w/o info loss.
