cd tray

My cd tray on my computer was left open and I got up and hit it with my knee. The tray was knocked completley off but doesnt look broken. How do i put it back on??

Chances are you'll never get it to work again, since it'a almost impossible to get the ejector gears to synchronize correctly. To try and get it back in you'll have to remove the CD ROM from the machine and take the top off the drive. The tray has to fit inside a couple of small plastic clips for proper alignment, and mesh properly with the gear and rack inside. If you knocked it off chances are the clips are broken.

I think you might have to bite the bullet and go shopping for a new CD ROM...
