I copied a data disc in my Creative CDRW drive. Everything went well until I tried to put the disc in my computers cd drive. It didn't read it.

I then took the disc and put it in the CDRW drive...it read it fine !!

Can anyone tell me what went wrong ???/ why won't my cd drive read that cd ??

I have a regular cd drive - not a dvd player/cd rom

My system is approx 3 months old ...

Thank you for your help !

I'd suggest trying it in several different CDRom drives snd see if it reads in them. If it reads in your CDRW then it isn't really a "coaster" but if the purpose was to make the data portable then I guess it isn't. If it reads in the other drives then I would guess some kind of alignment problem with one or both of the drives (if thats the case your system should be new enough for warranty service)

Trying to remember now.... I've read about HP software included with the HP writer (not Easy CD Creator) and there's talk about "packets" and the particular data format used on the CDRW... this format is not 100% compatible with all CD drives.

For universal readibility (all operating systems) you need to ensure the disk is written to ISO9660 specs. For Windows 95 and later systems with long filename support used the Joliet extensions. Usually other OS's have drivers to allow reading of Joliet (Linux for example).
