My extended-partition drive D: is no longer accessible. I'm not sure what caused the problem but when I click on it, I got this error message "D:\is not accessible. A device attached to the system is not functioning." When I check the properties of this drive, I find out that its capacity is full, which is odd, because I don't have that much data in the drive. I thought it might be a virus problem, so I scan the drive with Norton Antivirus. However, NA gave me the following message : "Unable to access drive D:. The drive is locked by a disk utility."
How do I find out what is actually locking the drive? Any solution to fix it? Should I format drive D to get it working again?

Check the following...
1) Is the drive accessible from DOS?
2) Do you have any software installed that protects certain areas of your hard drive from access? (example: Private folder programs)
3) Is your anti-virus software causing the problem? Sometimes Anti-virus software has a feature which restricts access to your drive. Check your NAV options for that.

Hope one or more of the above help. You also might want to check your BIOS settings to make sure your hard drive doesn't have a "capacity barrier" (in other words, BIOS is only recognizing the drive as a certain size when it is actually larger than that)
