Question corrupted start menu button needs help

Hi everybody! recently I downloaded a couple of automatic
game updates and they are working fine, however, now when
I exit from the game (Counter-Strike,BTW) it changes my start menu button to the same color as the last game screen and removes the word start. I have to restart the computer to refresh and correct the problem. I would like to repair this problem if I can, any suggestions? system is AMD 600mhz "Classic slot A",Tyan "Trinity K7" 2380 mobo, Win98se,Nvdia Geforce 2 MX, Philips "acoustic edge PSC702" sound, 300 watt p/s TIA

have you tried quries on the counter-strike forum? i can't think of anything off hand that might help you, sorry. Unless it is to tell you to make sure you've updated the geforce drivers( 12.9 are the latest ).
