Post Printer problem in IE5.5 & Outlook

I had to use my 98SE recovery CD after downloading a sound upgrade from the manufacturer. Now have everything back and working except the dot matrix printer. Downloaded the same driver I used before for it (EPSON LX800) and it doesn't print properly from Internet Explorer 5.5 or Outlook Express. It'll print the text, but where ever there is a line skipped it prints a square box on the left margin and doesn't want to stop at the end of a page. Does the test print fine, as well as word processor stuff from Works. I'd sure appreciate some help. Checked for updated drivers at Epson site and they state mfg's have the latest. Checked manual and it states to use drivers on computer.

    algopher,

Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

    Double-click Add/Remove Programs.

On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 in the list of installed programs, and then click Add/Remove.

Click "Add a component to Internet Explorer," and then click OK.

In the Windows Update dialog box, click the installation type you want, and then click to select the check boxes for the components you want to install. You want to put a check in the Microsoft Outlook Express box to get an update...since your Outlook Express isn't bold (it shouldn't be bold anyway).

NOTE: Components in bold on your screen are ones that are already installed

Click Next, and then follow the instructions on your screen.
    I hope this works

I downloaded a new IE5.5, and from what I read that should have given me the newest Outlook Express also.
I'm not familiar with setting of the BIOS, if anyone can help there I'd be appreciative.

I just discovered that I couldn't switch off the dot matrix printer in the control panel while on IE5.5 & OE. But I can switch when using MS Works.
I have an A/B switch to drive the different printers after making the change in the contol panel. The control panel shows the change, but when the printer panel comes up it is still on the dot matrix in IE5.5 and OE.

I made some good progress this AM by deinstalling all the printers in the printer folder in the control panel. Then I reinstalled them and can use either printer on any program. BUT, there is a minute catch to that, when the "print box" opens up where you set the "properties" and what pages to print there is a drop down menu arrow up where the printer is indicated. You can select the printer you want to use there even if it isn't the default printer as picked in the control panel/printers folder.
I never noticed that there before. However, I still have the problem with the dot matrix printing a square block on left margine and not recognizing end of page when using it in IE5.5 and OE. More help is appreciated.
