Thread: Fdisking an NTFS partition

  1. #1

    Post Fdisking an NTFS partition

Does anybody know what switches to use in order to delete an NTFS partition using fdisk, if such a thing is possible? I've been using delpart to the job but I got flamed on a local NG for suggesting that fdisk can't remove an NTFS partition. I can't find any information linking fdisk with NTFS.

    Cheers,

    Supa Dupa

Go to fdisk and delete it with the option," Delete non dos format"
That option should be around in fdisk somewhere.

Thanks for the links Yoda. I just farted around with fdisk on a Win2k server machine(I didn't do anything) and it showed the NTFS partition. I was under the impression that fdisk didn't recognize an NTFS partition. You learn something everyday.

diurnal, was there a lot of Win2k on the A+ OS exam? I'm writing it sometime next week and I've been concentrating on Win2K. I knew they had dropped DOS and Win3x, but was there much on Win9x?

    Cheers for the responses,

    Supa Dupa.

    Cool

    Hey Yoda,

It's a he and he EATS RAM!! He's 18 months old and he says "compaker". We browse the web looking at animal pictures. The University of California at Berkely has a great online digital photo library. He won't leave the keyboard alone, though. He's nearly shut my machine down with his creative keyboard combinations. Today it was an empty plastic Pepsi bottle. We had been playing drums earlier and I guess the fun carried over into compaker time!

    Cheers,

    Supa.

Yes there was alot on 2k but dont be suprised if you see dos though. 2k networking was loading on that exam. Permissions, user accounts, brush up on these subjects or youll get waxed.
