I'm trying to upgrade to win xp from win me and I'm getting sdome odd (to me.) messages.
1) upgradew advisor--- setup info. file D:\I386\DOSNET.INF is invalid. contact your system admin.
then it goes to--
2) the option to upgrade will not be available at this time. cannot create a file when a file already exists.
then----
3) windows xp could not load the setup config. files. your win xp setup files may be damaged or unreadable. setup cannot continue.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

35gb left on my hdd.
Hmm...that should be enough for XP to install.
Are you trying to install as an update or are you shooting for a dual boot setup?
And finally, you caould have a damaged disk....

I think it may be time for a clean install, upgrading once may be ok, upgrading an OS twice is almost always a recipe for disaster.......

if it is a double upgrade and the first was win 95, thats your problem. anyway do a clean install and you will be thrilled . no bsod and you can run it forever and not run out of resourses.
