Post ctrl.+alt.+delete & end task question

when ever I installed any new software ,I used to remove all programs running in the background except explorer, system tray , I just started a new way of doing the same thing ctrl.+ alt.+delete and end tasking all the programs running in the background except the two above again.
but in ms config ,After I finnished installing the new software I went back to msconfig and just rechecked all those program I previously unchecked. But using the end tasking method .How in the world do I get those endtasked programs back in there ,after I finish my installation ??I thought it goes back in by itself automatically ,but when I reopened ctrl alt delete I noticed those program that i removed had not been replaced...
    thank you for your help...

If programs have not been removed from the Startup group, they should reappear after rebooting. A popular free program for ending background tasks is PC Magazines EndItAll.

If you go through msconfig after re-enable the programs you need to reboot to activate them, msconfig prevents them from starting in the first palce so to get them to run again reboot.

If you're running Win 9x, you can run "taskman" and it will display a list of all your programs. you can hold ctrl or shift and select the ones you want and quit them. Pretty handy, and you don't need a third party program.

Reid was trying to tell you about End it All, (a favorite amoung many here)

its nice for several reasons: its FREE, its small unobtrusive and works, it is convienient- as it closes all programs except explorer and systray with ONE CLICK
( you can protect anything you want to not be shut down).

very nice also when you want to defragg or run scan disk ( which MANY- people seem to forget needs to be done once a week, for disk 'health')
