Excel & "if" statements

Hi, I have used Excel for a while but a guy asked me the another day about
"if" statements in Excel, can anybody shed light on this ? an example would
be ideal.

A simple example to type into Cell C1
=IF(A1=B1,"Same","Different")

Then type different numbers into the cells A1 and B1
If the numbers are the same C1 should show Same, etc...

This works out because If(TestCondition, Result if True, Result if False)

Or you can use the Function Wizard Button marked fx to help you design the conditions and what to calculate.
