No, no difference. MPGA, I think, stands for Micro Pin Grid Array. 478 is how many pins there are and each one fits into it's own hole in the socket. 478 is 478 no matter what you call it.
Good Luck with the build!
Hello. I am building my first PC and have a question regarding CPU compatibility with a motherboard.
Motherboard I am buying is the Gigabyte GA-8IEXP. Per the Gigabyte website, it supports processors "Socket 478 for Intel mPGA478 Pentium 4 processor in 478 pin package" with "533/400 Mhz FSB".
The processor I am looking at is the P4 2.0A GHz 512K Socket 478 Processor 400MHz FSB.
Is there a difference between a Socket 478 P4 processor and an mPGA478 P4 in 478 pin package?
Thank you,
Alan.
