Thread: Win 2000 path not found

  1. #1

Question Win 2000 path not found

I just upgraded to Win 2000. I have a 2 node network through Linksys 4 port router. Both computers can access the internet. When I try to access the network, both computers are seen. If I try to access either on I get an error message which say the network path is not found. I am not using domains just workgroups.

    Question

You need to have identical usernames and passwords or identical administrator names and passwords on both computers. Win2k in a peer to peer network requires profiles on both machines.
    Hope this helps.

Pekay is 100% correct. In a hypothetical case of Dick and Jane, You will have to set up user accouts on both computers for Dick and Jane. On Jane's computer, she might want to have administrative privelges while on Dick's computer you might want to only give her the right to read files, but not delete any.

Then once you have set up users, you will have to create shareable resources that will be available for sharing...
