Thread: Help - No .wav Sound

  1. #1

Question Help - No .wav Sound

I have had this system (SOYO Dragon Ultra Plat/ XP2100/1Gb Ram) up and running for over 2 months with no problems. A couple of days ago I downloaded SnapStream and during the installation in upgradfed to DirectX 9.0a. I ultimately decided that SnapSteream was not for me so I uninstalled it.

Since the above I have not had any luck with .wav files - i.e. no sound. I can play a CD and my line in works just fine but .wav files and my mpeg2 videos have no sound.

I have subsequently removed the DirectX 9.0a and reinstalled DX 8.1. I also uninstalled Power DVD and then reinstalled it thinking that it might be the codecs. I also uninstalled Media Player 9 and roled back to MP 7.1 ... still no .wav sound.

This is driving me knutz!! If anyone has a clue what has happened or can point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate any help I can get.

    Hello whirly,

    Welcome to Forums!

Have you been into your Volume Control>Options>Properties? Easy stuff first, I'd make sure that something didn't discombobulate the settings in there.

See if the volume control for WAV is open...
