    Recommendations on DVD authoring software?

I bought a NEC ND-1100A 4x DVD+R/+RW ATAPI drive last weekend and have put it into my system. I have the latest version of Nero, which is certified to work with this drive, so I'm OK for burning data DVD's and CD's. However, I'm kind of at sixes and sevens about the best package to use for DVD video recording/authoring; the reviews I've read on various programs aren't that much help, particularly those on Amazon.com, because when one person gives a particular software 5 stars, the next user/reviewer will trash the program describing its bugs in "loving" detail. So I'm kind of stuck. I'm looking at the following programs, all of which I already have on hand (I was able to get them all at low prices so I'm not out too much money):

    1) Cyberlink PowerProducer 2.0
    2) ULead DVD Movie Factory 1.0
    3) Mediostream NeoDVD Plus 4
    4) Magix Movies to CD and DVD
    5) Ahead Nerovision Express (this is downloadable and will automatically register if you're a user of Nero, but it requires the purchase of an add-on MPEG encoder to record video for DVD)
    6) Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 (with Basic DVD)
I've already tried PowerProducer, unsuccessfully (the video recorded OK but my system spontaneously rebooted when the actual DVD burning process started; I've put a tech support request in on the issue but haven't had a reply yet). Actually, if you really dig deep into what people have to say online, it seems as if every DVD authoring program has its problems. Which one is the least problematic?

Thanks, but this link is for copying DVD's to recordable DVD's. I'm asking about programs for recording videos from sources such as VCR's to DVD's.

I believe programs like Nero also provide DVD authoring along with CD authoring functions.
