    Question Norton Antivirus 2004 Professional

I don't know what has caused. There is something wrong with my Norton AV. The auto enable icon suddenly dissapear.(the one located on the bottom right screen) Well, I reinstalled it. I uninstalled because I clicked enable button and it wouldn't work. It reappeared. I think now is okay for a moment.

Another problem is I could not get connect with the live update and tech support from symantac.com. It happened since last week sassar worm attacked. My computer has no problem. Is there another way to contact http://www.symantec.com/techsupp ?

    You have a problem!!

Go on line, do not pass go, do not collect $200.00 Click on this link for an on-line virus scan.

    After that

Download, install and update Spybot S&D

    Download, install and update Adaware

Scan with Spybot & fix all problems

    Shutdown

Scan with Adaware & fix all problems

    Download Hijack this

    Make a folder called HJT

Install the HJT.exe program to the HJT folder

Scan with HJT and post the log back here

    Hey Keg,
Classic seems to think you might have a Trojan or virus , or some other kind of nasty.
After downloading and running ad-aware and spy bot, he wants you to go to the "hijack this" web site[follow his link] and post here so that he or some others can help with your NS 2004 problem
It's a good idea to follow his suggestions

I didn't mean to scare you. The first thing you think about when a working anti-virus program stops working is you have a security issue. The first place to start is with a full set of scans. Virus, trojan, spyware.

I have problem getting into this website...http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ Do you have another one? My internet provider provides one too. Do you think that they are all the same? I scanned my computer yesterday and not a problem. It has a pop up window saying about Active X, and then "this page cannot display".

Are you using IE?? I have found that it is hard (or impossible) to run the online scan in another browser... There is another option in my links at the bottom of this post and you can also find a scan a Panda...

All scans are not alike... Even two different ones from 2 different companies may pick up on different things. Unless your ISP is using a known company, it is doubtful that they would have the resources to keep an AV adequately up to date...
