    Upgrading ram in presario

I am working on upgrading the ram in a compaq presario 5150. I got a single stick of 256 that i am attempting to put in, but the computer locks up at 131245 kb during the initial memory test. There are 2 other sticks of 64 and i have tried all the combinations and slots to see if that changes anything and it doesnt. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

That Compaq accepts PC100 memory and maxes out at 384MB (3 slots) the age/BIOS of the computer may only allow low density memory to be accessed. I would try removing both 64MB sticks and inserting the 256 SDRAM DIMM in slot 1 and booting, if it recognizes it as 256, you are OK, if not you may have to get 100MHz SDRAMs (128MB single sided).

Also I recommend Crucial site for memory, good quality and a guarantee.
