Connect the HD so that Windows recognizes it, note the letter that's assigned to it in Device Manager, partition and format it with either with a Win 98 boot floppy or a Windows XP install CD [NOTE: MAKE SURE to partition and format the correct HD(remember the letter assigned to it in Device Manager?) and NOT your 'C'(boot) drive, or you will lose everything!], when finished partitioning and formatting it make sure it shows up in 'My Computer' in Windows, and finally back up your 'C'(boot) drive using 3rd party software(Norton's Ghost, etc.).
