Sadly, I don't know the answer to this

    Hi.

Recently I just built my own PC (not physically, but I made the specs along with help from other helpfuls on this forum), and I have the invoice from the builder right here. It has lots of everything, but I have two specific questions:

Under CD/DVD-ROM it says 'None'. I was under the impression this is where you put the CDs into the computer . . . and just noticed there's nothing there. Under my CD/DVD-RW it says the brand of my writer which is a LG GSA-4163 Black DVD +/-R/RW 16x16x4x4x5 Dual layer IDE OEM. Under it's specs on a website, it says:

    Reads/Writes: DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-RAM, CD-ROM, CD-ROM XA, CD-DA, CD-Extra, CD-Text, CD-R and CD-RW, Supports High Speed Disc Media, Reads Photo CD (Single and Multi-Session), Reads CD-I and Video CD

It says it reads CD-ROMs. So that's the drive where I'll be putting my game CDs and stuff, right? Also, this means I can WATCH DVDs on my PC? Aswell as burn music CDs and DVDs?

Sorry for the noobish question, but I wasn't sure, as this is my first time putting a comp together. Thanks alot, appreciate it.

It's funny that the itemization is that specific (I usually just refer to those drives as "optical drives") but apparently that builder has a separate spot for read-only optical drives and CD/DVD burners. Any type of "burner" will also read that specified format. So a CD burner (aka CD-RW drive) can write to CD's and read CD's. A DVD burner (aka DVD+/-RW drive) can write to DVD+/-RW's and read DVD's, as well as write to CD's and read CD's. A DVD burner like you got can do it all!

Hahahaha great! My God, my new computer is going to be amazing. I grabbed a Thermaltake Aluminum Tsunami Dream case, just the brand you mentioned, Saphalline! Also, rather than buying the Coolermaster fans, the Tsunami Dream has TWO 120mm fans built in. And apparently they're pretty quiet. I got the one with the window on it.

My friend recently got that case and it's gorgeous! It's pretty and shiny and much quieter than mine. 2 x 120mm fans + 1 x 92mm fan in the window = much quieter than my 3 x 80mm fans. Plus it probably pushes more cfm's. Good overall case, too.

I must admit to being very pleased with the turn-around that Thermaltake has made in the last 2 years. When they first came on the scene, I didn't think they would last because they were just another vendor pumping out cr@ppy parts. But Thermaltake actually took the time to learn the industry, and in the last 2 years they've gone from cheapo to good quality! In another year, if they keep improving, I might upgrade their status on my list to "high quality"!
