I found out that the drive is not working at all, not even spinning up, I'll be taking it back.
I bought just today a new Samsung 80GB SATA Hard-drive. The model number is HD080HJ. There was just a little piece of paper that came with it for instructions. I have it now hooked up both to power and the SATA 1 slot on my motherboard which is an ABIT AV8-3rd eye GURU board. I installed the Raid drivers that came on the CD with my motherboard. Windows etc is right now running on a 30GB IDE hard-drive. I just want to set the SATA drive up for a slave. The problem is, is that neither bios or windows is detecting the drive. Any help is very much appreciated! Thanks!

I am currently setting up a RAID mirror with two of that model and they are working just fine. I have also used Samsung SATAs on about 5 builds since the start of the year and have had no-one report any problems back to me.
The current board is an MSI KT6V-LSR and the drives are detected on the first screen after the mobo splash screen with direct entry to RAID BIOS using the TAB key. You shouldnt of course need any drivers to detect the drives at this level - but if the drive is dead it is dead. It happens that dead drives do arrive; I have had it happen with WD and Seagate drives in the past.
