I think an ATI rage or an old viper is good. If you were here I had one and could give it to you for free.
One of my PC's is an older but still very serviceable workhorse workstation
(dual Xeon P III 500 mhz processors, 2 gb RAM, very fast SCSI drives).
For much of what this machine is used for, faster processors are not required. However, the video card is pretty much strained to the max.
It is a Diamond Viper 550 with 16 mb video RAM.
I am looking for recomendations/suggestions for a current replacement video card that might offer somewhat better performance. I realize that the AGP interface is something of a bottleneck but I feel there should be something more current that offers better performance that would still be compatible with my MB's AGP interface.
According to the MB manual the existing AGP interface complies with AGP spec Rev 1.0 and supports AGP 1X and AGP 2X devices utilizing +3.3 volts.
The PCI bus interface complies with the PCI 33 MHz interface and supports concurrent host, AGP and PCI transactions to main memory.
It's difficult to search for a video card by these specifications and I am wondering if anyone might have experience or suggestions.
Thanks in advance
BR

this one should work,,
Not great for games ..
But work real well on a workstation.
Cheaper option, dual-VGA support: Radeon 7000 for $29 + 4.50 shipping.
