    apps error

too often when I start, ie double click a shortcut or click on a program from the program list or open outlook etc etc etc my pc crashes, just as the progam launches, any ideas anyone? Could it be the hard drive failing?
    Previously everything has been ok.

    OS: win xp sp2

How to solve Windows system crashes in minutes

I gave this a try and it wasn't too difficult to do.
It eventually identifies the [driver dll?] file causing the crash [by misbehaviour (writing to a memory location it shouldn't)].

I didn't have a real crash to debug, but used a downloaded memory dump file.
