    Halo 3

    Hey all, how's everyone been?

Anyone here wait for the midnight release? I don't know if i'd be there for it but if I could play FPS's at all on consoles, i'd be getting it.

Presently, all I know how to do is run....because if I try to aim and shoot all I do is decorate the ceiling...or the wall, whichever you choose.

The game will probably be the best seller ever. Halo 2 made $125 million in just it's first 24hrs.

Considering that Spider-Man 3 made $151 million in it's first 24hrs, I think it'd be a safe bet that Halo 3 might be one of the best selling entertainment properties ever.

During my 6 months at Gamestop, I saw the midnight release of GTA: San Andreas and Halo 2, both were ridiculous. I can only imagine what it must be like now for this game.

I'm a PC gamer myself, so Halo 3 doesn't hold much interest for me. Still, I can imagine it was quite the fiasco! We'll have to look at first-day sales figures tomorrow, eh? Let's post them here! See if 3 is the magic number for breaking record sales!

I'd say 3 was a pretty good number.....3.84 million sold in the first week.

I completely agree about being a PC Gamer though man. I have a 360 and Wii but the only games I have for 360 is Burnout and Condemned, which I was thinking about getting for the pc.

Wii I have Wii Sports and Trauma Center, but I got it also because of the hype with the controller which was definitely not just hype...and the virtual console which is awesome.

I like the consoles for fighters, sports and racing...but I don't play many racing games. I'd love it if sports games were better for the pc but the companies are all in love with the consoles so sports games on the pc get the shaft.

I'd love to get Halo but I can't control fps's for the life of me! I tried Halo 2 on the 360 but just decorated the ceiling...rather get it for pc where the controls are more precise.

Just replayed Halo again until I end up getting Vista. It won't be for Halo 2 but eventually when I do get it that'll be what i'm looking forward to.

Yeah, the sales seem to have been very good. And I don't believe all that cr@p about the game not living up to the hype. I mean, the hype was SO BIG that no game could have lived up to it!

They really did a lot of cool things with Halo 3 - gotta hand it to Bungie for listening to the players and bringing the experience to the next level. But yes, I do agree that it takes a different kind of gamer to aim a gun with two analog sticks! I don't know how they do it...

I was surprised, though, when I read about Halo's (the original) sales figures barely topping 1 million! Or was it just under 1 million? In any case, that seems rather low compared to how often I see it! I mean, it's like a classic staple of any XBox collection! How can you not own it??

That's no one's fault but PC gamers'! 5-10 years ago, they did try! They were all trying really hard! Every new sports game from Madden to FIFA was PC first, console second. But that market dried up, to the point where only the secondary sports (like Soccer/Football) can reasonably sell on the PC these days. Gamers just weren't buying them for PC's. It's logical, however, when you think about it. The technology just wasn't there for good controller support - it still isn't there. I mean we've got the X360 controller for the PC now, but hardly anything else! We've got the wheel/pedal sets, but those suck for sports games even more than a mouse & keyboard! So what now? Are sports games in a position to make a PC-comeback with the X360 PC controller? Or are most PC gamers like me? Do we value deeper content and brilliant shooters above all else?

What...what?? So, Halo3 comes out with a PC and XBoX version... You've heard the hype and want to play the game...Ah, but you need to decide which PC to buy $$$ or, do I just purchase the console??

To "view" the game equally, what would be the price difference?

    Hype?

    What hype?

Sheesh...couldn't even walk through Wally World without seeing something related to it...or watch a football game...or just about anything..the week before it came out...no, no hype there...

If the game is half as good as all the pre-release stuff led one to believe then it should be a smashing success...(heck, I'd be willing to go down to one quarter as good...)

Well, my current main gaming rig has full DX10 power with Vista and a DX10 vid card. The X360 has a unified shader design but lacks certain key features for full DX10-compliance. I'll take my PC!

But as for the cost issue, I'm usually the first one to say that consoles are cheaper! If you don't have $800 to throw at a gaming PC on the low end of the scale, then don't bother! Go console or settle for mediocre status.

Not really much of a choice then... Mediocre PC Gaming sounds like an oxymoron...

Oh, come now! You know it's the truth!

Nearly everyone on the forums knows that PC gaming is costly in terms of the hardware! It takes roughly 3 times as much money to get a gaming PC capable of going up against a console! At least in terms of visual splendor. Obviously the PC has several advantages that make it worth the extra cost, but pure gamers are better served by a $600 console and a $600 PC rather than a $1200 PC. Especially since building your own is the only way to go to save money on a gaming PC, which presents a rather large barrier for most!
