Sorry I don't know but then uninstalling the whole of the Symantec suite is the first thing I usually do given half a chance. If you are concerned about malware post a HijackThis Log in the security section.
Hello all,
I've been working low level computer support (as in I just do virus scans for students at my university to clean em up and set up other machines for the faculty, nothing major) and I've seen many machines with Symantec or Norton Anti-Virus and noticed something strange. On a few of the machines I go to run LiveUpdate, and it fails. So I go and check, and LiveUpdate isn't even installed anymore, so I'm forced to reinstall it. This actually happened on my own laptop as well, and I never uninstalled it in the first place. Is this a common thing or is it the work of something I don't want on my machine?
Just wondering![]()

Help to start using BiNG. Some stuff about Boot CDs & Data Recovery Basics & Back-up using Knoppix.
Are your AV updates pushed out from a LAN server or are these checking for updates to Symantec on their own?
