Do like I do and use an ancient IBM clicker type keyboard. Found about a half dozen in resale shops, and been using them for about 4 years, won't come anywhere near a soft touch keyboard now, love these old things. Sturdy as can be, practically indestructible, and have the feel of the old IBM selectric typewriters. I dropped this one on the sidewalk, split the case, and after pressing it back together I've been using it for 2 years, and I pound on this thing harder than most people even think about. My sister gets mad at me every time I use her computer because I abuse her keyboard. I can't get a new one to last 6 months...This one is dated May 1993.

Also has the advantage of each one being identical, I have sometimes 3 or more computers to use and work on, and swapping from one keyboard to another would be a nightmare if I didn't have these, each is just like being on my primary machine, this one.

OK, to be serious, I don't know of a utility that will do what you want. I have the same clicker effect, but not as loud, but it's the real thing, not a software imitation. You can hear me typing in the next room...provided the door is open, of course.

Ha ha... sounds like my wife. She types so fast and furious that she literally wears the tops off of the keys in no time flat. We got her one of those nice and sturdy IBM keyboards you are talking about... built like a tank. Makes my keyboard at work seem like a toy. The rat-a-tat-tat probably has the neighbors convinced that all we do is sit around watching WWII movies

If she wears the tops off the keys, they're cheap keyboards with cheap decals. The good ones, like these IBM's we're talking about are printed on and you can't get the letters off with a wire brush and sulphuric acid...OK, maybe you could, but it would take something that extreme to get the letters off a quality keyboard.

Sounds like she types like I do...the guy who bought my truck recently told me I type faster than his mother...I made out the receipt and printed it on my computer. I actually type so hard sometimes it sounds like I'm on an old mechanical typewriter. Even on a soft touch keyboard you can hear me 20 feet away...But now I can hardly use the things, I've been using this one for 3 years and I'm so accustomed to my old IBM, the feel just isn't there, and I make so many mistakes I end up typing about 15 words per minute, after corrections.
