Not if you use a third party program like Norton's Ghost, but in DOS and some degree Win9x, things can get messed up with the long file name business, DOS is limited to the 8.3 format (8 character name 3 letter extension) and if two files/directories end up with the same name the net effect is only one gets copied (usually the wrong one) or they get combined into some bizarre hybrid that will never work....
