Thread: BSOD during clean installation

  1. #1

    similar problem

Hi I would love if somebody could assist with this problem:

    Firstly my configuration:
    Asus M2N8-VMX motherboard
    AMD x2 6000 processor
    2 x 1 gig PQ1 DDR2-800 ram
    Nvidia 8500GT graphics card
2 x 250 gig segate HD in Raid 0 configuration
    O/S - Vista ultimate 32 bit

Problem, my pc was running slowly and having some driver issues. I tried to update to no avail, so opted for the clean install using vista install disc (reboot), followed normal questions and selected clean install, during the process my computer blue screened (dont recall the msg )
I restarted and thats where it ends, i get nothing...... no screen display, the system sounds like it starts to boot but nothing happens. The CD drive spins like it is reading but takes no action.

I have disconnected everything and rebuilt computer, tried different configurations with hard disks and ram, i have used the monitor out on both the motherboard and graphics cards just nothing. I have even tried to reset the CMOS/BIOS by removing the battery and swapping jumper configuration as specified in the user manual.

I am honestly lost, I am thinking it may be a hardware issue but am not sure where to start, all suggestions welcome and thankyou in advance.

    Regards
    Glenn

Welcome to the PCGuide forums. I have split and moved your post since it is nearly always best to not piggy-back an existing thread. If you want to quote another thread then just link to it.

BSODs during a clean install are likely to be incompatible hardware (did you check with MS) or incorrect drivers. Flaky memory is possible but usually doesn't prove to be the case.

There's quite a bit on Google that you might like to plough through.

Have you tried just the HD, a stick of memory, and video, then add piece by piece to see what might be bad. I realize there's not a lot there anyway, but start with the least you can put in.
