upgrading from xp to vista

hi everyone!
i'm having a desktop with d foll config:
intel core2duo proc
1gb ram
200gb hdd
currently i'm running xp. yesterday i tried to upgrade from xp to vista. i got
a new vista cd and i tried to install. after all the preliminary processes,only custom(advanced) option was available. when i chose it, a message came stating "no disk drives installed on your computer.." and the installation aborted. what is the problem with my pc? please help me rectify it!!

i would highly reccomend you don't upgrade to vista, XP is still a far superior operating system. If you're gonna upgrade get windows 7.
