Gateway T-1628

So have a Gateway T-1628 notebook and I was wondering if I was able to install a fresh copy of Windows Vista 32 Bit on it. Im not using the recovery disk or any disk that came with it because I am not able to find it. Will my laptop still work as far as drivers are concerned. Please and thank you for replies.

I would think you will need to download your sound, video and other drivers from Gateway prior to wiping the OS and reinstalling a new copy of Vista.

Most if not all should be available at their site.

Thanks. Thats what I kinda figured i was gonna have to do. Another question i have is that when i plug in the network cable from my pc to the laptop and turn off the wifi it cannot connect to the internet no matter what i do, but when i unplug the cable and switch on my wifi, it connects to the wifi, but when i use it for a long period of time, it disconnects itself from the wifi, and the only way to connect back is to reboot the laptop.

I don`t know if this will help but I have an oddity that I have just learned to live with the work-around.

When I switch from wireless to hard-wired with my laptop (XP Home) I sometimes get no connection and vice versa. What I do to overcome this is to go to Start> Run> inetwiz> Enter. I follow the prompts using LAN, choosing no for setting up an email account and finishing the wizard. This almost invariably re-establishes my internet connection with either type, wireless and/or ethernet cable wired.

I am unaware if such a wizard exists in Vista or if it will help with your situation.
