Post IBM Think Pad memory not recognized

I purchased an IBM think pad 365xd that came with only 8mb RAM. I purchsed a new PNY 32mb module and added it, but the system didn't recognize it. I then purchased a kingston 32mb module and again it was not recognized. I tried the thinkpad config program and tested the RAM, but it still only recognizes the first 8mb. Any idea why? thanks.

I don't have a clue about notebooks, but try here:
http://www.pc.ibm.com/support?lang=en_US&doctype=&subtype=Cat&page=brand &up=unknownuser972530216&menu=family&brand=IBM+Thi nkPad&family=IBM+ThinkPad%7CThinkPad+365X%2FXD then enter your machine type and model for tech support and FAQs.

If this giant link doesn't work, just go to http://www.pc.ibm.com and search support for your model.
