Hard drive makes noise
I have a 1997 Micron, transport xke. I think my hd is going to go south, and unfortunatly without me!! Makes a lot of noise and not sure what to do. I would think I could connect another hd but not sure how to go about doing that with a laptop. Any suggestions regarding the noise and why it doesn't do it all the time and what my best options would be. Laptops are not my favorite computers to work on and are way expensive to hire someone to do the work too. Thanks

You are/could be correct about it going south on you. The new noise from the drive is a sign of just that. Why its only doing it part of time could be it's slowly dying on you, Giving you the time to make a back up  I've never work on a Micron laptop. I have replaced a couple in Toshiba and one Compaq. It's not all that hard. Just take your time and only remove what is absolutely necessary to access the drive. One warning. Be Ready To Pay !! on the subject...
is there any way to (temporarily) hook up 2 hard drives to a laptop? Would be useful if you wanted to use Ghost to directly copy your old hdd to a new one. tk ------------------ ____________________ mp3.com/stairwell

You should be able to hook up an external usb, parallel, or pc card hard drive to the system.
