Post system locks up all the time under win98

i have a problem with my notebook computer that has a cardbus controller from Texas instrument (TI1420) my problem is everytime i insert a cardbus card the machine will detect the card but upon drivers installation my machine will just freeze. i have check the IRQ's and found out that a lot of my devices are using irq11 and i think the controller is trying to assign the cardbus card with IRQ 11 as well. i went ahead and loaded WinME and everything is fine. does anybody know any update for Win98SE that will fix my problem. i really would like to use the win98 instead of winME.

I'm not familiar with cardbus controllers or even laptops for that matter, BUT I did find this excerpt from: http://www.systemsoft.com/l-2/l-3/su...s-faqs-ans.htm

Q: I would like to run Windows 95/98/ME from a PC Card. Is this possible?

A: At this time, this is not possible. Windows 95/98/ME cannot be run from a PC Card because Windows, during its initialization process, will re-initialize the PC Card controller and card, and will momentarily turn off the power to the card. This causes the system to hang while loading Windows.
