I own a Toshiba Libretto 100CT Laptop, and have a larger HDD to replace the old one. Problem is that the computer will not recognise the HDD the drive is also Toshiba, a mk4309mat 4.3Gb. I have had the drive in my desktop and it works fine, once in the bios I can select the drive off of the list and use it as a normal drive, master or slace. But evertime that I mount it into the laptop, up comes the message HDD error. Going into the Bios in the laptop is no help because it is auto detect only. Should there be a partition/section on the disc with details for the bios to detect from? If so can I reinstate it? But why can I use the drive on my desktop? final question, can I use a PCMCIA data transfer kit to solve the problem, if so are they available separately? All and any help appreciated.

Welcome, Harri!
Do you have a brother named Mike? Take a look at this section of The PC Guide. Hope it helps. ------------------ "When I nod my head, hit it with the hammer." -- (Moe, holding nail, to Curly, holding hammer)

This is a five year old thread. The original poster never replied or posted again, so it is unknown whether or not his problem was ever solved.
You have already started a new thread about your problem, so please continue there...
