Internet Explorer sometimes just stops in the middle of nowhere and shows a blue screen. When i press a key, it goes back as if nothing has happened...sometimes it quits IE, with no other problems. Any ideas how this is caused?

Without any idea what the blue screen says, I have no idea what to tell you. Write down the exact error message and post it. Then we might be able to get some ideas going.

It is very strange...i cannot read it because the blue screen scrolls up very, very fast...sort of like when you have a television set that is broken...i am serious. the same thing started to happen to microsoft word. or sometimes the blue screen becomes tiny and the words are unreadable blocks of text.

When it comes to web browsers, problems are usually just typically crappy coding within the application. I find a bug in my browsers about half the time that I use them.

Not normal behavior for a blue screen. Usually it will sit still long enough for you to read the error message. Only thing I know of that scrolls like that is the NT crash screen, and it scrolls slow enough you can read it. Makes me wonder if it might be the work of a virus of some kind. Especially if it shrinks so small you can't read it...Run a good virus scanner and make sure the DAT files are up to date. If it's happening in Word too, it could be a Word Macro virus. I don't know much about them. Check into the websites that McAffee and Norton have set up and see if you can find any references to anything that causes this type of effect. Don't know Norton's address but here's McAffee

If it is your browser, just go get opera 4.02, it costs 39.99 if you want to purchase it, or you can just use the trial version for 30 days and then.... oh wait, not gonna say anymore about that, other than you might try out http://astalavista.box.sk for more info... do a search for opera 4.02. At anyrate, I have never had this new version of opera crash on me yet, but opera always has seemed to work better, which is probably why it is not cheap when you consider browsers are free now days. If you want the trial version, go to www.tucows.com, and like, if you go under your os and click on any browser, it brings up a list of all the browsers they offer.
Blue screen = OS and a program not playing together they way they should. If it is OS causeing the problem, or if it is a file shared by many programs, then more than one program will crash. If it is just the program itself, then you can get alternativve program. For Internet Explorer, if you go into control panel, add/remove programs, you should see Microsoft Internet Explorer in there, and if you click on add/remove, it gives option to repair it. Might try that. If it is not listed in there, it means your oem decided to disable uninstall feature on IE... those bastards!!! I hate computers like that, they drive me bananas. ------------------ Joe Redd MCP
