illegal Operation for Outlook Express
Anyone know how to solve illegal Operation for Outlook Express?
Me tried to reinstall Outlook Express but still got problem... Could it be the version? My Outlook Express version is 5.5

After all the problems I've seen people having with IE 5.5 I'd say yes, it could be the version. Check the Microsoft site, and see if they have any info posted about it yet. Sometimes a search of the knowledge database and Tech Net will turn up lots of good information.

Checking MS for an update is definitely a good thing. Since you reinstalled it, its likely due to a corrupt data file. Might try logging in as a different user and running Outlook to see if its possible to get past that point. You might try running "sfc" (Start->Run->sfc) have it try to correct any corrupt files in your system files area.

First of all, Me doesn't come with system file checker, so disregard that. That was one of the few disappointments i have had with Me, but it's stability mostly eliminates the need for it.
As for Outlook Express illegal operations. First, try going into Control Panel, add remove program applet. In there, click on your microsoft internet explorer and internet tools, and clicking add/remove, and should have option to repair internet explorer. If that doesn't work, try uninstalling IE 5.5 completely, and tehn try downloading regular internet explorer 5.0. To do this, you can go to www.tucows.com or you can go to my companies website, support.bright.net/downloads.htm, and you can download IE 5.0 from there. ------------------ Joe Redd MCP

I am having problems with 5.5 also. I get the illegal message
MSIMN caused an invalid page fault in module MSOE.DLL at 015f:5f19d043. I went to the Microsoft Support page and they said only the archive boxes should be checked in the .dbx files under properties. You can do this by going into find files and entering *.dbx and pressing the find button. Right click on the files and go to properties. Then clear all boxes except archive and click the apply button. This is supposed to work, but it didn't for me. If anyone knows more or has any more ideas, I would like to know. ------------------ J.

Web browsers are notorious for bugs, since each company is more concerned with trying to outdo the competition with bloat than actually writing quality. There's not really all that much you can do, unfortunately.
