Why oh why oh why do I get booted out to the desktop without any error message whatsoever every time I play a game? Games from CM3 & Music 2000 (which require hardly any graphical performance) to quake 3 and kingpin (which are mega 3d rendered)
I have an amd 475mhz k62 3dnow processor, 128mb ram, 64 bit soundblaster, 8mb ati rage pro. I can run the most demanding non-game software, like all the macromedia packages running at once, and truespace 2 etc. Please can anyone help? i have a sneeking suspicion that it is something to do with my sound card but i dont really know. Thanks, Steve Arnold |

I would take a guess and say it's either a conflict, not likely if the sound card works otherwise, or a conventional memory issue, which is more likely.
How to Increase Conventional Memory from the MS Knowledge Database Also check my site, I have a couple of other links from the MSKB concerning games that run better or require MS DOS mode. ------------------ If you had everything...Where would you put it? Computer Information Links

How endemic is this problem? Is there any predictability to it at all?
How much gametime do you get, one hour? Two? Less? 95 or 98? And naturally, I would do the old driver hunt. If it IS your sound card, you could try jamming it into another slot (er...in your computer), or making up a sob story and tricking the manufacturer into RMA'ing it for you. ------------------ ***He who eats when he is full, digs his grave with his teeth***
