jdk(java)not running in msdos on my win98 pc

jdk(java programme not working)

when i run javac on my dos prompt,iget an error message this

programme cannot be run on dos mode.this problem started because i tried

to run start rmiregistry(Java RMI) on my dos prompt of my win98 pc,

because rmi does not work on win98 pc.plese help as soon as possible
