Post Paint

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone would know why a windows 98 microsoft paint program would suddenly stop working.Every time i try to access it
it comes up with a box that says, This program has preformed an
illegal operation and will be shut down,it won't let me in. I tried restarting the computer but it did nothing. I went to microsoft's
help site, but would probably have better luck finding a diamond in my cornflakes then any info there.Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Oracle

Try running scanreg, might help. Boot to a win98 start up disk and choose Caomand Prompt Only At the A:\> prompt type:

scanreg_/restore
using a space in place of the underscore ( _ ). Choose a registry backup made before the problem started, if you have one that old.

If not, try Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Windows Setup tab. In the Accessories category, uninstall Paint, reboot, and go back, then reinstall Paint. You'll need to have the win98 CD on hand, or the files in a folder on your hard drive. You might also have to create a new shortcut on the start menu, (delete the old one), but that's relatively easy...

Soon as I come up with all the answers...they change the questions!!
