You'll need to have a static ip address assigned by your ISP. (check that they allow you to host a web server first before you sign up for the service.) Then you'll need to have your domain name registered with Verisign. ( there are cheaper register services out there so shop around) Once that's done you'll have your ISP make a DNS record on their DNS servers for your web site, then place your ISP's DNS servers IP addresses as the primary and secondary DNS server entries of your registry record. (Your ISP should give you 2 DNS server addresses or names to use as your primary and secondary DNS, but they may only give you one.)

You will want to use a broadband connection for this. Unless you know you'll be getting heavy traffic any DSL or Cable connection should do.

Unless you really want to run a webserver or your not going to use a "registered domain name" for you web site, you might find it easier to just have some other company host your web site for you.

Good Luck
