As far a firewalls are concern do u think the built in firewall in my router will do or should i get a software firewall as well,,,,,??

And the built in firewall in the router what exactly does it do , or what configuration do i have to mess with?? Concerning the router.....

Basically if you don't open any ports in the router you should be fine.

If you plan on opening any ports, then it would be smart to add a software firewall.

But overall, adding a software firewall won't hurt.
Just another program to configure.

Actually, the more I think of it, it would be better to run a software firewall as well.
If you were infected with a trojan, the software firewall would alert you.

What's a good firewall to get? One that works with both PC and MAC?

Im not sure you will find one that will work on both, for PC a good(AND FREE) one is zonealarm, www.zonealarm.com It is pretty easy to setup and use although can be difficult sometimes, overall a good product though.
