I recently formatted and reinstalled my Win 98 OS. I set up my internet access as per my isp's requirements, but the following problem occurs:
When I dial up, I can hear the modem dialling up and getting a ringing tone which then turns to a warble, which means the modem is not faulty. The dial box then also says "verifying username and password". This then hangs for about 20 seconds, then I get a message saying "unable to establish a connection" I have checked and recheck my settings, even deleting my setup and re-installing it, but get the same problem. Any ideas Thx nZyme |

Have you called your ISP support line? It could be any number of settings that are off just a little bit, but if you have already checked all that out, I would be going to the phone. It helps if you have a cell phone or other line so you can talk with them as you try to go online.
Good luck, Budfred |
