AOL DSL (Westell Ethernet DSL modem)

I recently purchased a Westell Ethernet DSL modem from someone and I wanted to use it to replace the current Actiontec USB DSL modem I am using now so I can network my internet connection. I have AOL 7.0 installed and I am able to connect with my Actiontec modem but the Westell modem I can't get it to connect. Does anyone has this modem or has experience with this modem with AOL DSL? I have everything connected properly but I am unable to connect. I was thinking maybe some settings need to be changed. I am running Windows XP Pro. My DSL is provided via Verizon. The modem is working fine (all lights are on) just getting it to connect is the problem.
