Some internet things will not work!

ok i have dsl, first off it slows down and speeds up and sometimes even doesnt work because i am at an apartment that has split their bandwidth for all of us. ok and now sometimes, when i am surfing, i can surf to any pages i want and have no problems but when i try opening up like aol instant messenger or icq or any other messenger, or try going to any chat room, they will not work? they say no connection detected or the chat rooms just wont load. does any one know what is up??

If it is all the time with chatrooms and chat programs it very possible that they are blocked by the network management.

its not all the time though...they work the majority of the time, its just somedays they do not work then next thing you know they do...

Hello flingz

When things don't work check out "Control Panel>System>Device Manager" to see if any hardware is disabled which would prevent your internet connection working.

I have a situation at the moment where my Network Interface Card is sometimes enabled, sometimes disabled depending on whether I cold boot or restart. It's only because I know about this that I don't get angry and frustrated. I know to restart when it's disabled and it will be enabled next time around. Haven't figured out why yet.
