outlook express 6

when starting oe it takes like forever(3 to 4 min) to show up on my screen
why is that.Is there anything I can do to speed up this process.It has not always been like that,but I don't know what has changed.By the way,are ther any dat files in there???.Thanks

not sure if this will help but won't hurt open OE In Outlook Express, on the Tools menu, click Options.
Click the Maintenance tab, click to clear the Compact messages in the background check box, and then click OK.
Quit and then restart Outlook Express

Also go here and at the bottom Performance problems there are a couple of other solutions

Same thing happened here. I don't even use OE (so there aren't any messages stored in its mail folders). First time I tried to start it for weeks was last night, and it took 2-3 minutes to open.

Turned out it was because I had the "Protected Storage" service stopped. After started that service OE opened normally again.

If your running XP then go to Administrative tools > Services
