Moved website to new host, now I can't access the URL even though everyone else can

The server formerly hosting my website went down on Sunday morning, and despite repeated attempts to contact the host remained down for three days. In consequence, I had to go get a new host service for my site. I did this on Wednesday evening and updated the domain nameservers at the same time.

It's Saturday morning now, and the DNS change has propagated to most of the world by now. Everyone I've asked who has accessed my site reports they can get through just fine....

Except for me. I can't access my own website. Typing in any of the URL's (and it's a big site, so there are a lot of URL's to try) gets a 404 error page. I don't know why this is happening, and it's especially annoying because everyone else can seem to access the site just fine _and_ because I can do FTP to the numeric IP address (in fact, I'm FTP'ing to the IP address right now.)

I'm on Comcast High-Speed Internet, and I just spoke to two tech support people there. They say the only thing on their end that they can think of that might be causing the problem is that their DNS server (which is supposed to update every 24 hours) might not have gotten the proper information yet.

I've tried both Netscape and IE and get exactly the same 404 error results. I don't understand why this is happening. I need to find out if anyone else here uses Comcast High-Speed Internet and is also having trouble accessing the site. I would also like you folks here to test the URL's for my site:

www.operagloves.com/glovmain.html

and

www.operagloves.com/index.html

and advise me if you have any trouble getting in.

Have you tried deleting all your temporary internet files & cookies, and clearing the history? Could be trying to read the old page regardless!

Yeah, try the cache clearing....also are you using a HOSTS file?

Yes, I did try clearing the cache and history on both IE and Netscape, several times. No joy. I don't know if I'm currently using a HOSTS file - where would I look to check that?

(EDIT: I just looked it up. The HOSTS file in my C:\WINDOWS directory is the sample file that came with Windows 98. Will I need to change it? I'm given to understand that HOSTS is mainly intended to carry a list of sites you intend to block.)

UPDATE: I just tried it with my other computer, which has a 56k dialup connection to Earthlink. I was able to get onto my website just fine via IE. I suspect it's either a Comcast DNS error or something _really_ peculiar wrong with my computer.

Comcast finally got off its duff and fixed that DNS problem sometime this afternoon - I can finally access my own website again with the domain name, just the way it should be!

If you had been using a HOSTS I was going to suggest adding your domain name/IP to and see if you could get there that way, since the HOSTS file is supposed to be the first in the chain....but since Comcast has finally resolved it.....
